Lucas Neufeld is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Certified Wound Specialist who has served as a cornerstone clinical leader at Integumetrix since the organization’s founding in 2016. Known for his diagnostic precision and steady leadership in high-acuity environments, Lucas specializes in the evaluation and longitudinal management of complex acute and chronic wounds across the continuum of care.
As Lead Advanced Practice Provider, Lucas delivers advanced wound consultation services within a major tertiary medical center while also managing patients in outpatient, post-acute, and skilled nursing settings. His clinical expertise includes pressure injuries, surgical wound complications, diabetic foot ulcers, vascular wounds, and complex integumentary conditions requiring coordinated multidisciplinary care. He performs advanced procedures such as excisional debridement, skin substitute application, and negative pressure wound therapy, and provides oversight for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Lucas is widely respected for his ability to identify subtle indicators of clinical deterioration, anticipate barriers to healing, and develop comprehensive treatment strategies that optimize outcomes while reducing preventable complications.
In addition to his clinical leadership, Lucas is an experienced expert witness and medical-legal consultant, providing forensic wound analysis and standards-of-care evaluation in cases involving pressure injuries, surgical wounds, vascular ulcers, diabetic wounds, and hospital-acquired conditions. His work spans both plaintiff and defense litigation, where his clear interpretation of complex medical evidence supports attorneys navigating medically sophisticated cases.
Prior to joining Integumetrix, Lucas practiced as an advanced practice nurse on the Hematology and Oncology service at Vanderbilt University Hospital, managing medically fragile patients with multiple comorbidities in an acute care setting. This experience strengthened his clinical judgment and further refined his expertise in complex disease processes that directly impact wound healing.
He began his nursing career as a surgical care registered nurse and charge nurse, developing a strong operational foundation in perioperative and postoperative patient management.
Lucas earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University.
