His postgraduate training was taken at Vanderbilt and the Medical College of Georgia. Following two years of private practice in North Carolina he accepted the position of Associate Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia. He was subsequently recruited to the Diagnostic Clinic in Largo, Florida, where he practiced for 27 years. During his tenure he served as Chief of Surgery, and Chairman of the Cancer Control Committee. He has served as the Cancer Liaison Physician to the American College of Surgeons for 37 years.
Dr. Ettien is certified by the American Board of Surgery in addition to being a Senior Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, a Senior Member of the Association for Academic Surgery as well as many other surgical organizations. For several years he served as Editorial Advisor for “Resident and Staff Physician”. He has served as Medical Advisor to the Advanced Wound Care center at TriStar Southern Hills Hospital for nine years and now serves as the TriStar HCA Division Medical Director for the TriStar Division Advanced Wound Care Centers.
He is married to Joann Lynn Ettien, RN, MA, who serves as the Administrator of Centennial Women and Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Ettien is serving as the Consultant for Integumetrix and providing physician oversight for the nurse practitioners under the American Medical Association guidelines. He brings extensive knowledge and experience with surgical and medical patients with complex wounds to the team. He is very knowledgeable in the latest wound care technology, and is a valuable asset and resource for the Integumetrix nurse practitioner expert team.
